Glazed Doors for a Utility Room Makeover in Chiswick

We sourced a Cosmo Graphite Grey Clear Glass Internal Door for a modern utility room in a Victorian home. Ideally situated in the iconic Bedford Park conservation area of Chiswick, West London, this property has undergone a complete renovation, returning two run down flats to the beautiful family home it once was. The new owners have thoughtfully paired quality contemporary touches with original features and their new utility room is as practical as it is stylish.

Heritage Style Doors for a Period Property With a Modern Twist

Chiswick boasts a rich architectural tapestry, hugely influenced by the Victorian era. Our customer Neg fell in love with one such property in the area, where she embarked on an ambitious project to convert two apartments into one stylish home.

Turning their attention to the utility room, Neg was on the hunt for a clean, modern glass door when she found Vibrant Doors online.

We sourced the ideal design for her needs, visually connecting the space with the kitchen and flooding it with natural light.

A Quiet, Leafy Suburb in a Bustling City

This project instantly captured our imagination as it’s located somewhere truly special. Neg’s property can be found in the celebrated Bedford Park area of Chiswick, West London.

Established in 1875 by Jonathan Carr, Bedford Park is known for its distinctive Queen Anne Revival style architecture. Think red brick structures with varied gables, tile-hung walls and buildings that feature ornate detailing.

This neighbourhood stands as a testament to Victorian architectural vision and has been recognised as the world’s first garden suburb. Once a hub for artists, a free spirited feel lingers in the air, which is wonderfully showcased by the creative interiors of today’s residents.

Bedford Park is also a conservation area and something of a best kept secret on the wanderlust wish list of architecture obsessives around the globe. Every corner is filled with history and the tranquil, green setting feels like a rare treasure waiting to be uncovered in the midst of busy London life.

Creating Contrast Between Contemporary and Classic

Our customer Neg has leaned into the story of her property, carefully restoring as many original features as possible and curating a well blended contemporary classic look. But it’s been quite the journey to reach this chapter.

Achieving harmony between historical craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics is a balancing act. Something which our experienced team knows only too well. Often it’s the addition of a few unexpected (yet well chosen) modern touches which can really uplift a period property restoration; creating visual contrast and bringing a feeling of originality to projects.

“This was a complete gut renovation. The property had been two flats which we converted back to a house. It was in a terrible, unliveable state and it took us a year of work before we could move in. Also, the house is Victorian and it’s within a conservation area which can make securing planning permissions a tad trickier!”

The Ultimate Modern Utility Room Inspiration

Stylish utility room makeovers are emerging as a huge priority for our customers right now. Driven by a desire to blend stylish interior design with efficiency, homeowners are keen to invest in well-designed utility rooms that maximise space and look great, too.

Utility room doors play an essential role. Perfect for establishing a cohesive and open flow between rooms while really helping you to lean into a clean, uncluttered finish. It’s all about that irresistible partnership of functionality and design flair. Most likely why on-trend industrial style internal doors are an effective option.

Opting for the Cosmo Graphite Grey Clear Glass Internal Door by JB Kind, Neg is delighted with the end result...

“We wanted a glass door with a modern look to complete the utility room. We’ve used the same marble in the utility room as we have in the kitchen. The door helps to create a ‘window’ into the space so it feels less disjointed from the kitchen.

The door was easy to install and has the modern, clean look we wanted. During the next phase of our project, we’re hoping to change out all our internal and external doors. We’ll definitely work with Vibrant Doors again.”
