10 Fictional Airbnb Listings We Wish Were Real (or Maybe Not…)

10 Fictional Airbnb Listings We Wish Were Real (or Maybe Not…)

A few years back, we published a post about what Airbnb listings taken from some of the most popular TV shows around might look like. Back then, Airbnb was a growing enterprise, but had yet to become the massively popular (and some might say controversial) operation it is now. Not to mention, we were still living in a world without Stranger Things, Squid Game and House of the Dragon.

So, we decided the time was right for a bit of an update. Airbnb looks rather different these days, and back when we wrote our original article, Airbnb “only” had 2,000,000 listings. Now it has over 6 million. Here’s what some of those new listings might look like, if they were taken from some of your favourite shows…

Creel-y Pleasant Period Mansion in Hawkins, Indiana

Fictional Airbnb listing for the Creel House in "Stranger Things"

This stunning period property has lots to offer, particularly if you’re a fan of the Stranger Things in life. I mean, sure, you’d have to share with the host, who has some rather… negative views on humanity in general, and sure, there’s an opening to a sort-of hell dimension, and yes, maybe a slight spider infestation, but with period features like these, who’s counting?

Shared Dorm on Mysterious Island, South Korea (Probably)

Fictional Airbnb listing for the facility in "Squid Game"

If you don’t mind communal living, you’ll love this one. Located somewhere in South Korea (we think), this shared dorm in… well, some kind of facility provides plenty of on-site security, ample activities to take part in and all meals catered. Of course, it’s entirely possible you might die an incredibly violent death, and then there’s the strange masked guards watching your every move, but for budget accommodation, it’s not bad, really…

Dreamy, Turf-covered Hobbit Hole, The Shire, Middle Earth

Fictional Airbnb listing for Bilbo Baggins's home from "The Hobbit"/"Lord of the Rings"

If you dream of getting away from it all in a bucolic paradise, this could be the perfect place for you. Everything’s taken care of, from the well-stocked larder to the on-site gardener, and your host will provide over six square meals a day. Plus there’s a fantastic pub just a few minutes’ walk away that serves excellent local ales. Not recommended for taller guests.

House of the Dragon with Views of Blackwater Bay, Westeros

Fictional Airbnb listing for Dragonstone, the seat of the Targaryens from "House of the Dragon"/"Game of Thrones"

Somewhat dark and forbidding, but nonetheless spectacular, Dragonstone is one of the older properties on the books. Current host Daemon is somewhat volatile, but if you like dragons, fighting and general debauchery, you should find plenty of common ground.

Central NYC Apartment with Several “Perks”, New York

Fictional Airbnb listing for Monica and Rachel's apartment from "Friends"

How you doin’? Hey, if you’re a fan of purple, this property’s for you! Featuring an open-plan layout, two bedrooms and a large balcony, it’s the perfect base for exploring NYC. There’s a busy coffee shop just downstairs, with a sofa that’s reserved for your use. Clean and tidy guests preferred, who don’t mind the neighbours popping in unannounced. Could this property be any better? We don’t think so!

We’ve also updated some of our favourite “listings” from our original article:

“Family”-friendly New Jersey Mansion

Fictional Airbnb listing for the mansion from "The Sopranos"

Family-run as well as family-friendly, this stunning property is both luxurious and spacious. You’d be staying with a loud Italian family, which means plenty of delicious home-cooked meals, although you’d have a private suite. Which you might be glad of when some of the “extended” family pop round.

“Killer” Apartment in Miami Beach, Florida

Fictional Airbnb listing for Dexter's apartment in "Dexter"

Spare room in a two-bed apartment in a popular spot for tourists. Dexter, the host, may seem a bit controlling, but it’s probably better that way. Did we mention he’s a serial killer? We know this may be off-putting for some, but as long as you’ve not escaped justice in any way, you would have a very pleasant stay. He may even take you out for a trip on his fishing boat.

Short Break(ing) Pad, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Fictional Airbnb listing for the Whites' home in "Breaking Bad"

Whole house available! The hosts, Walter and Skyler, have had to move out of their home for a while, so you’ll have free run of the place. Enjoy the pristine, blue, 99% pure waters of the swimming pool out back. If someone knocks on the front door, it’s probably Walter.

Spacious 2-Bed Furnished Apartment, Tufnell Park, London

Fictional Airbnb listing for Tim and Daisy's apartment from "Spaced"

Professional couples only please! This 2-bed apartment offers excellent amenities at a great price. If you’re not averse to a party, and don’t mind your hosts being there pretty much all the time, this property could be perfect for you! Fans of The Phantom Menace need not apply.

Fictional Airbnb listing for the Griffin family home from "Family Guy"

This bright family home is certainly special. Your hosts Lois and Peter would provide a warm welcome. With three children and a (talking) dog, not to mention friends of the family dropping round, it’s not exactly geared towards those that like a bit of peace and quiet though…

It’s no secret that Airbnb is home to some pretty quirky and interesting properties. And while our listings above are obviously not real, some genuine listings actually include several homes that have featured in famous TV shows and movies, such as the Potters’ home in from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Tony Stark’s cabin from Avengers: Endgame, and Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv’s mansion from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. It’s fair to say that Airbnb has come a long way since its humble beginnings, and there’s no sign of it slowing down any time soon!
